it doesn’t seem absolutely necessarily as we have seen beautiful specimens cultivated in completely organic media (such as sphagnum moss or coco husk)

Many have excellent form and some of have even produced exudate underneath the lids in a fashion similar to Nepenthes lowii

This should be an outstanding cross since the parents should complement each other well
