Tijdens een vakantie in Egmond aan Zee vertelde Dick Bruna zijn oudste zoon, Sierk, verhaaltjes voor het slapengaan over een wit konijntje dat door de tuin van hun vakantiehuisje rende. Dit konijntje werd de inspiratie voor Nijntje. Deze Nijntje knuffels zijn gemaakt van corduroy (ribfluweel), de hoogte is 23 cm.
